December has officially begun and the holiday season is in full swing. That being said, there is a lot to do before Santa comes down the chimney; between gift shopping, setting up the tree, planning holiday dinners, and attending all your fancy holiday parties.
While all this is happening, we’re trying to remain festive and fun – what better way to be festive than with switching up your lipstick color? I personally love lipstick, and have an extensive collection. It adds something special to an outfit, or makeup look. You can have zero makeup on and still look put together because of your lipstick shade. I also think it’s the one product you can switch up the most in your routine.
In 2016, there are so many different lipstick formulas, more than I’ve ever seen or can keep up with. You have creamy, satin, matte, creamy matte, true matte, metallic, glossy, and everything in between.
You also have the arrival of liquid lipsticks, which is a trend that isn’t going anywhere – thanks to Kylie Jenner and her lip kits. Other brands have been following suit, and now there are liquid lipsticks from everyone to NYX to Marc Jacobs. I spoke last week about our new full coverage foundation that is being released in January 2017… I recommend you keep an eye out for something special also being released, that may or may not be liquid lipsticks!
I do love a liquid lipstick for something that stays on all day and doesn’t transfer, but I do also enjoy a creamy, normal wear lipstick. There is room for everyone in my heart, and I’m sure there is in yours too 😉
Now, here at Laura Geller, we have a great lipstick line that I love and that’s the Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipsticks. We have 12 shades, and I promise you there’s a color for everyone. The formula is also smooth, hydrating, and creamy; they are also VERY long lasting, I mean, these babies stay on more than any other regular lipstick I have.
With all this being said, I love a bold, holiday lip. I think it looks great with holiday outfits, and glams up any look. You can keep simple face & eye makeup, but wear a red or plum lip and it looks like you got your makeup done professionally.
Whether it’s visiting with family, your office holiday party, or just a fun secret Santa exchange with friends, lipstick is going be involved this holiday season and you need to plan accordingly.
My recommendation & experience is:
- Something longer and more formal, go with a liquid lipstick in your favorite shade because it is long lasting and doesn’t transfer.
- When the event is more casual, you can skip the liquid lipstick and stick with a trusty & more traditional cream, satin, or matte lipstick.
- Want something glossy and shiny? Try a lip topper, like this Jouer one. It’ll give any lipstick something extra to make the pout pop!
A few of my favorite lipsticks for the holiday season are:
- Marc Jacobs Bad Behavior Laura Geller Fifth Ave Ruby
- Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in True Brown
- Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lipstick in Pink Chocolate
- Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Stepping Out
What is your favorite way to wear lipstick during the holiday season?
Come back next week for something QVC related and VERY special blog!
